Register to vote

You can use this service to:

  • get on the electoral register so you can vote in elections and referendums in the UK
  • opt out of the ‘open’ register – the version of the electoral register that’s available for anyone to buy
  • update your name, address or nationality by registering again with your new details (if you live in the UK)

There’s a different process to register anonymously, for example if you’re concerned about your safety or the safety of someone in your household.

You can check if you’re already registered to vote by contacting your electoral registration office.

You will have one ballot paper to fill out

There will be parish council elections in your area.

The list of candidates standing is not available until after the 9th April 2026. Please check back then.

Voter ID

You will need to take photo ID to vote at a polling station in this election. You do not need your poll card to vote. You must vote at your assigned polling station. Check the list of accepted forms of photo ID.

Where to vote

Your polling station address should be on your poll card, delivered by post before the election. If you haven’t received one, or aren’t sure where you should vote, you should get in touch with Birmingham City Council:
